My mum is a huge Elvis fan, she visited Graceland on her Elvis pilgrimage a few years back. Whenever I took her car for a service, Elvis was playing and I would switch it off and listen to the radio instead, she would always complain that I'd committed a crime by switching the 'King' off.

Still all go with the house at the moment, although our builder has had to cry off with 'man-flu' today so plastering is rescheduled for Monday. We've had a couple of kitchen designs and booked in another tomorrow so fingers crossed that we'll have it all done before Christmas. Our skip is only 3/4 full so there's plenty of time for someone to chuck an old mattress in it.

As for the allotment, our neighbour asked us to water their tomatoes while they're away. I whacked my head while getting out of their greenhouse/ polytunnel thingy. I now have a graze on my forehead. One consolation is that by the allotment entrance is a huge plum tree, the plums are a small yellow variety and are delicious! Every time I walk past, I eat a couple.

We're off to Nor'n Iron again next weekend and as the weather looks a bit iffy, we might do the Bushmills distillery tour this time. I'm not really a whisky drinker but hey.. 'when in Rome' as the saying goes, I'm sure I'll have a Guinness or two (or three).

Cheers all,

Kev.

Hi Guys.

Good to see your keeping busy Kev. Hope it all goes to plan especially getting done by Christmas.

I bet your Mum loved Graceland. We came away and actually realised we had needed more time there. We were at the end of a Mississippi Paddle steamer trip up from New Orleans and it was the last part of the trip. But as most people were flying off that day we only had so much time there even though we had added extra days booked in Memphis. Memphis by the way is magic , so much history.

Enjoy Ireland Kev. We’ve never been to Northern Ireland but quite a few times to Eire. Dublin is great plus we have friends that live right on the west coast with views out across the Atlantic. So beautiful. I’d like to see the Bushmills distillery as it’s one of my favourite whisky’s.

I had a cataract operation yesterday and all seems to be going ok. Was a bit painful last night but i managed to sleep. Today easing off and vision already way better than before. Not sure if you guys know but steroid usage will cause cataracts to grow. I didn’t know till i went to the opticians and he told me. He could see that the steroids were the cause. Possibly because of the fast growth.

I’ve just ordered new iPhones for the missus and myself and i really struggled to pull the trigger. I was in a cold sweat πŸ˜‚. But i had to do it as the battery on mine wouldn't last a day. And the missus always wanted a bigger one anyway as her previous one was a Plus. So her old one will go the Mother in Law.

So I’ll be busy tomorrow setting them up and putting covers and screen protectors on. Then mine will be off to the recyclers.

I’ve been struggling a bit with my breathing lately probably due to my collapsed lungs. But I’ve still not got a referral through yet. So i spoke to my GP and she’s going to chase it up. Not sure what they can do but at least ill know for sure.

Take care guys, keep busy πŸ‘

I think mine would have settled for something in a similar size but just a lot longer lasting. Personally I'm happy with mine as it is, I only use it occasionally and then only play one game on it. Oh wait, are we still talking about phones?

Same problem here, Phil. Dissatisfaction with the size of what she's currently got, compared to those she's had before. 🀭

Hi guys. Just seen that Craig (Craig380) passed away last Saturday. His wife has updated his thread.
So sad. Seemed like a lovely chap. He had told me he was in a hospice by email and I was a bit shocked as he never mentioned it on his thread.
😒

Very sad news, Phil.

Craig, was one of my cancer heroes. Despite being very ill, he always tried to help others. He was an inspiration to us all and will be sorely missed.

Very sad, each one is very sobering, a stark reminder of what we are living with.

I’ve just nipped in for a virtual pint as I am having some time off the real stuff - gone ‘tea total’ 😱. I found that drinking, not that I booze much these days, has been increasingly knocking me out the next day. Just going to see how it goes for a while. Already missing my favourite tipple though 🍺😬.

I’ve also been pondering on the phone front. My battery’s going like they all do. Putting up with it for the moment.

Allotment is good, very dry but is full of stuff. Harvested my first cauliflower today πŸ˜ƒ. Mind you I can’t for the life of me work out why I planted so many cabbages. I have about 20 ready! We only eat about two a year - doh!

I enjoyed watching the Tour de France, they are just incredible those guys 🚴🚴‍β™€οΈπŸš΄‍♂️. And now back to the footy, new season, away we go again ⚽️.

Enjoy

Hello mate, great to see you.

A couple of years after I retired, I found that as I no longer had work commitments, I was drinking more. It was occasionally knocking me out and that was way before my diagnosis. 😁

I went tea total for seven years! Didn't touch a drop, and even stopped cooking with wine.

It was okay I suppose, but I didn't feel any healthier or lose any weight. I was proud of my will power though.

I've not followed the cycling but have been enjoying the India v England cricket matches. I will be watching, what may be, the last day of the test match today, which is in the balance.

Wow Adrian, seven years!!! That’s unthinkable, I do like my beer and red wine, especially a good one so there’s no chance of me doing 7 weeks let alone 7 years 😬. I’m feeling better though having been off it already for a couple of weeks.

Exciting - the cricket, today I’ll have to watch it from behind the settee - it’s that tense. Fingers crossed.

Hello mate,

To support your temporary temperance, I'm changing my profile picture of me and a pint to the non-alcoholic version of me and the missus. I'm not sure which has got a better head on it, her or the beer.

Wow, the cricket is exciting. One out already, and one just dropped! Plus our last man Woakes, has still got his injured arm in a sling.

OMG another LBW!

LATE EDIT: Changed my profile picture back. I missed my pint too much.

The cricket was amazing! Such a shame we couldn't get over the line but India played well all series and deserved the draw.

We watched the last day at Old Trafford and had a great day of cricket even if we had to settle for a draw.

Woakes was such a warrior, just coming on the field with a sling on was enough, but to run for byes and rotate the strike! Heroic.

Hi all,

Just dropped in to catch up after a really busy week. Got all the kitchen wall units down and to the dump, set up a temporary kitchen with a couple of base units and worktop before flying to Norn Iron Saturday.

Drove to Enniskillen from the airport and managed a fair amount of driving covering all six counties by the time we arrived in Ballycastle.

Did the Bushmills distillery tour this time which was really interesting and informative, our guide, a Tottenham supporter grew up opposite Arsenal's old ground in Highbury. At the end of the tour we had a free drink each, the Mrs was driving so I had both.. I had a kip when we got back to friends house.

We also visited Stormont which is set in beautiful grounds and the guided tour of the inside is free, I would highly recommend.

We got home late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning our builder was back to gut the kitchen and complete the plastering.

It's been a full on busy week living in upheaval but it's starting to come together. Hoping to have most of the kitchen fitted next week so the worktop guys can measure up.

Just got to get a coat of wash on the plastered walls this weekend and I can have a rest.

Cheers all.

Kev.

Hi guys.

Well Kev you have been busy. Northern Ireland is on our list… especially the Bushmills distillery πŸ™‚…

Hoping I eventually get my referral for my collapsed lungs as I can’t fly at the moment. My GP has tried to push it forward but still nothing yet.

Hope the kitchen refit all goes to plan. πŸ‘

Just today had the glass replaced in the summerhouse bifolds after it shattered. Hope it’s gonna be ok now…

Take care guys, and watch that sun , it’s blooming hot today.

Cheers

Phil

And so for the 2nd time of typing this out due to 502 error!! - having forgot to copy it before trying to post - DOH! 😠.

Northern Ireland sounds fabulous Kev, I will add it to my list. Your tour of Bushmills reminded me of a similar tour that we did at Laphroaig on Islay. Donkeys years ago me and the then soon to be Mrs Spongebob went to stay in Bowmore on Islay. The bar at the local hotel there was something to behold as it it was stacked full of whiskeys with some even under lock and key. I was amazed at the time to be presented with a whiskey menu, if only I could have afforded to sample of some of the rarer ones 😁.

The Laphroaig distillery used to have a gimmick, maybe they still do, who knows. The gimmick was that you could become a landowner of a piece of land at the distillery and become a 'friend of Laphroaig'. Actually it meant sending off a form that came with a bottle. If you then ever went to visit the distillery then you could claim rent owed on your land which comes in the form of a dram.

And so it was, as we were both landowners we went to visit the distillery. At the end of the tour, we were lent a pair of wellies each and then we were shown both our 1ft square plots of land and our names as recorded in the huge volumes of books containing the names and plot numbers of all Laphroaig friends. And we were given our rent - two drams - large ones! Luckily for me, Mrs S didn't want hers, and anyway she was driving, so I ended up in that marvellous situation of being fresh on Laphroaig in the middle of the afternoon.

We were accompanied on the tour by a bunch of loud Americans (are there any quiet Americans?) and they were gobsmacked and jealous of us being treated like royalty - so yes, two fingers up for that πŸ˜€, yeay!

Right so I've just attempted a fix to a sliding toilet seat and about to go up the allotment now to check up on the cauliflowers.

I was just about to ask Adrian if he was still getting the 502 error, obviously I am not the only one. I don't think this can be called a support group any more. Prostate cancer, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Thanks Chris

Really hope you can get your lungs sorted soon Phil, it must be pretty unpleasant, apart from the frustration being unable to fly.

Apart from Bushmills, I did a tour of Adnams brewery in Southwold a while back. I recall the keg filling plant is cleverly hidden behind a terrace of fake houses complete with doors windows and letterboxes. Looks a typical street from outside apart from the clanking of beer barrels. Last year we visitited a Port winery in Porto, I enjoyed that, especially the tasting.

I love the idea of being a land owner and collecting the rent πŸ˜…. I've never been to Islay but from the Northern Irish coast I've seen it in the distance.

As for the allotment, my Mrs went Saturday and brought home a massive courgette and some carrots, we also have a solitary pumpkin the size of a football, the rest of the plant has plenty of flowers but no more pumpkins! My Mrs says something something male flowers 🀷🏻‍♂️

I'm still seeing error 502 too!

Cheers all,

Kev.

Hi

I just wanted to share my morning routine .

After a quick clean of the teeth and wash ,I attend to the mop of silver grey hair ,to think it used to be a lovely chestnut brown .

To get any form of control over my hair I need to apply some hair gel ,this seems to calm it down a bit.

My attention then turns to β€œdown below” ,I like to apply some KY jelly to the base of the vacuum pump ring and give it a bit of exercise to get the blood flowing.

I now feel ready to face the day.

This morning I was carrying out my routine with the pump ,I glanced down and noticed the gel on the end of my β€œold man” was a blue colour ,that seemed a bit strange ,It was then I realised I had mixed up the Hair Gel with the KY jelly .

Unfortunately the Hair gel did not make the old man as erect as my Hair !

Some times you’ve just gotta laugh πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Hi Swannie,

For a moment there I thought you were going to say you had smeared Toothpaste all over your old man. Still made me laugh though πŸ˜…

I don't have much hair so had no idea hair gel is blue. 🀷🏻‍♂️

Cheers,

Kev.

Morning lads (and lasses),

been a while since I was in here, so I thought I’d stop by for a quick one. Lots gone on, which I won’t bore you with for now, but as a result I find myself retired earlier than planned!

Have been adjusting to a different way of life which, so far, I have to say I quite like 😁. Lots of time at the allotment building new raised beds, and in the garden. We have two of our granddaughters every Wednesday, which I now get to enjoy.

Last but not least, I finally succumbed and bought myself the sports car I always fancied owning. Got an MG TF135, in Racing Green of course πŸ˜‚. Should pick it up early next week, so I hope the warm weather hangs around a bit longer.

I hope you’re all ok. I’ll read back later on and see what has been happening.

Cheers,

Ian.

Hi Ian,

Sounds like you are living the dream πŸ₯³. I think one of upsides to PCa is that it gives you a different perspective in live - mainly if you want something or want to do something then do it!

A racing green MG - top stuff πŸ˜ƒ

Enjoy

Ey up boys and girls.

Ian it's great to see you back. Enjoy your retirement and your new car.πŸ‘

BUT, you know what they say about penis sizes and men with sports cars.

https://improbable.com/2023/01/10/the-men-small-penises-fast-cars-research-study/?amp=1

The authors, most of them at University College London, report: “In this experiment, we manipulated what men believed about their own penis size, relative to others. We gave them false information, stating that the average penis size was larger than it in fact is, reasoning that, on average, these males will feel that relatively and subjectively their own penis was smaller; compared to those told that the average penis size was smaller than true average. We then asked them to rate how much they would like to own a sports car. These facts and questions were buried amongst other items giving information and asking for product ratings, so that our hypothesis was masked from participants. We found that males, and males over 30 in particular, rated sports cars as more desirable when they were made to feel that they had a small penis.”

If this were the case, I should be driving the fastest sports car ever produced! In fact, all men who've had RARP, and lost an inch or two, should be looking for something much faster and sportier. πŸ˜„

Chris, somehow I missed you 502 Error query. Yes, mate, like everyone else, I'm getting sick to death of it. I know this place is run by a charity, but surely something could be done to improve the situation.

Cracking day here. Out in the garden all day, I think. Got a fridge full of cold lagers and Inches cloudy cider. The wife enjoys a couple of Inches, which is just as well, as it's all, I've got to offer.

502 - errors!!!! - this site is pretty well unusable πŸ˜–.

But enjoy the sun and forget about those lost inches β˜€οΈ

Hi Dave. Lovely to see you.

Great advice from the consultant. I've simplified it, and cut out the water bit. πŸ₯΄
