I’m just about to turn 49 next week and went to the doctor back in October of 23 symptoms I had was a week steam going more often little bit of pain when urinating and ejaculating but not alarming pain. Had a Dre it’s slightly bigger than it should be doc said sent me for a couple of blood tests etc psa was about 6 on both tests got sent for an mri at end of October got results about 10 days later saying they found something suspicious on the front of my prostate so then got sent for a biopsy doc at that said it could be cancer but won’t know until results come through that’s been 2 weeks now and no results. The wait is killing me. Really worried that at my age it can be a lot worse than if I was over 60 as mentioned by my doctor. I’ve found this community and read a lot of info and if anything I’m slightly more worried than I was. The other thing is I see a lot of posts on people having same procedures etc as me but have a lot more detail and info on what their docs have found etc I feel quite in the dark to be honest. Any words of advice please

I was 52 when diagnosed, not far off your age. Until the specialist knows what they are dealing with they keep their cards close to their chest rather than guessing. Waiting is the worse part for sure. I feel the same every time I have a blood test. Keep busy, keep life as normal as possible, talk to friends, partners and family you might find that they are very supportive. You may also note you can contact the specialist clinical nurses on here, they are brilliant.

Hey Neil,

I too was born in 75. Diagnosed just over 2 years ago. Its a lonely, scary , frightening place for any age. We're too young for this crap.

Truth is we're not.

You are not though, at full diagnosis. Hang fire lad.

If its the worst? You'll deal with it my man.

You will.

You know whats worse?

Not having been proactive. You have been though. You clearly have been and are on it.

You've got this. Any support that you need from here forward is right here.

Jamie.

Hi Neil,

Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry that you've had to find us, but I'm glad you have. There are a lot of kind and supportive people here who'll try and assist you.

Have you got a copy of your MRI scan? The info you've given seems very vague.

I had the exact symptoms you've got when I was about your age it was diagnosed as prostatitis.

Your PSA is a little high and your prostate is enlarged, this can be caused by other non cancerous conditions.

Your biopsy should clarify the position.

Its awful waiting for results and I appreciate your anxiety.

Just take one step at a time because it is pointless worrying about things that may or may not be found.

I would advise you to ask for copies of all test reports and consultant's letters.

Keep us updated and the best of luck mate.

Cheers

I was 46 when diagnosed.  I was pT3b and Gleason 9.  I'm 54 this year and have a great life. Try not to worry too much.  There is hope.
