MRI show abnormality on prostate

Hello,I have just being told by my consultant he can see a abnormality on my prostrate on the left hand side,I was in hospital about 4weeks ago with prostatitis,so now the consultant doesn’t know weather to give me a biopsy ASAP or leave it another few weeks to let everything settle down from the infection because the prostrate could still have a slight infection in it even though my urine test shows the infection has gone and if they start the biopsy ASAP could make things worse,I just feel so so tired all the time and the waiting is killing me?

Hello mate,

The abnormality found by the MRI could be linked with your prostatitis, only a biopsy will tell if it's anything more sinster. I haven't got a clue whether prostatitis or inflammation, effects when the biopsy should be done. I'd have thought your clinician would know though.

Even if the abnormality is cancerous, I doubt waiting a little while to be sure that the infection has cleared, would do any harm.

Best of luck mate.
