Atypical Glands, Active Inflammation.

Hello everyone. Has anybody had the somewhat disturbing comment below on their histology report?

What is active inflammation?

Aypical glands that are of concern but insufficient for a definitive diagnosis of invasive adenocarcinoma. Active inflammation is present.

Many thanks,

Keith

Hi Keith,

I'm not medically qualified but our site describes atypical as:

'ASAP stands for atypical small acinar proliferation. ASAP isn't a medical condition but is a term used to describe changes to prostate cells seen under the microscope, when it isn't clear whether the cells are cancer. For example, there may not be enough changed cells for the doctor to say whether they are cancer.'

As for inflammation that can be caused by other conditions such as prostatitis.  I wouldn't describe it as somewhat disturbing.

Best of luck.

Many thanks for your reply. I don't actually drink cow's milk anyway but I didn't know that all the same.
