Does anyone have experience of later chemo when other treatments stop working? Such as Cabazitaxel or when combined with Carboplatin for men with BRCA 2 gene ?

Thanks

Hi John,

Not great, I can't remember where we were at last time we messaged.

Allan had Abiraterone for a few months then it gave up on him, he tested positive for BRCA 2 so was eligible for olaparib, he's been on that since sept but his psa has been rising the last 3 months. But then last week he found a massive lump in his neck, it seemed to appear overnight.

They biopsied it and said it's cancer but doing other tests to confirm that it's a spread from prostate which they think likely.

So it's an oncologist appt this Friday when I expect her to say chemo next,  hence my thread as I'm wondering whether I should be asking for something other than docetaxel.

Anyway, sorry not better news. How are you doing young man? Are you still making the most of everything, holidays etc?

Hi Melissa

Tried to PM you but your inbox is full. Sorry to learn the news about Allan, give him my best wishes and hope planned treatment is successful.

Still soldiering on with the Prostap, see my Onco every 4 months. If you remember I had upfront chemo back in 2018 before I embarked on HT on my Oncos recommendation. A lot of guys sail through it I had a bad time but heigh ho you just get on with it, my all or nothing attitude I guess.

Still get the PSA yips after each blood test, that never seems to go away.

Still traveling went to see my brother in Durban in January and we're back and forth to Spain, probably going to stay Europe based in future, dislike of long haul flights and lack of valid insurance primary reasons .Grandkids also keep me occupied and running around. Wife planning a cruise for my 70th in January so life just seems to trundle along hopefully leaving the grim reaper a few hundred yards behind.

Take care

John x

Hi John,

I didn't know my inbox was full. Thanks for your good wishes.

Allan had docetaxel early too like you in 2019. It's the fact it feels the end of the road that's worrying me more not that any chemo is nice.

Oh it's lovely you're gallavanting around, and your wife making plans for your big celebration. It's nice to hear.

We also have a grandaughter who is 4, she runs Grandad Allan ragged but he adores her. They are good for your soul aren't they John?

Take care
