Genetic testing could significantly improve prognosis.

Very recent scientific research has just been published into genetic make up of prostate cancer tumours.

It's all very complex but  looks like its a major break through. It appears that genetic testing  when combined with cancer staging and grading  could significantly improve prognosis.

It is complicated but my youngest lad is a geneticist. He's been visiting me for the last couple of days and I asked him to translate it for me. The poor lad does more research for me than he does at work. 😁

If I understood him correctly,  it basically means that the genetic make up of the tumour can indicate how it is most likely to progress, if at all. He seemed to think it was big advance in giving an accurate prognosis. Any new tool to assist in beating the beast or that may help reduce unnecessary treatment to defeat it, must be a good thing. 👍

It's funny - as I think it's fairly rare here - but genetic testing seems to be a standard primary investigation for PCa in the US. At least it was in the support group meetings I attended while doing a project in New York.
