Would anyone know how long it takes from having your ct planning scan to the start of your radiotherapy

Not sure it's the same in the UK but here in France it was 2 weeks - CT on the 6th May and first session on the 21st May.

Hi Paul, my planning scan was two weeks before the start of my treatment. I had already booked a holiday so they worked around my availability.

Good luck.

Exactly 2 weeks in my case.

I was told 4 weeks, but it was actually 3 weeks. This was before COVID.

You want to try to maintain the same weight from the planning scan to the end of the RT.

probably between 2-3 weeks but number of waiting cases and urgency can have a bearing. .Do you know how many fractions (sessions) you are having? This should not affect the making of the blocks but will affect the number of times you have to attend to finish your course of RT.

I guess as soon a possible, with me it was 2 weeks just enough time for them to come up with the a suitable plan for your treatment. However, in my case it took longer because the Onco wasn’t happy with the plan, it went through the ‘system’ a second time but he was still not happy. He was worried there was too much risk of collateral damage to my bowel if I had 37 session to include treating the whole pelvic area. Apparently my plumbing was in the wrong place! So it was a wait, followed by another ct Planning scan and then RT to just the Prostate and Seminal Vesicles.

Im not sure how often this happens but I’m glad my Onco spotted it and I didn’t end up with permanent bowel damage.

Paul, Fractions is the total dose  of radiation divded into the number of Radiotherapy sessions, so each daily dose is known as a fraction, cheers
