Cystagram results disappointing

As a 70 year old male I underwent robotic assisted radical prostatectomy on 10th May. I today underwent a cystagram (5 and a half weeks after surgery) and was told there is still a significant leakage between bladder and uretha and a further examination will be in 3 or 4 weeks time. These timescales are so far removed from those widely quoted in all literature I can find. Has anyone experience such a lengthy period in which the catheter must remain in place? In my case this could be at least 9 or 10 weeks.

Carrow, no personal experience of your situation, but there have been quite a few guys on here who have been in the same situation. It's better to have the catheter in than have urine leaking through the joint into the abdominal cavity, that can apparently make you very poorly.

If you need some more advice ring the number at the top of this page and speak too of of the site nurses.

Thanks Chris

Hi Carrow

I had my catheter in for over six weeks for the same reason. I recovered well from the surgery and of most of the after effects; that was over 12 years ago and I am still well.
