Hi newbie here. Hubby waiting for diagnosis. Psa 10.6 MRI shows suspicious area in prostate and outside PI rads 5 query bony. CT scan and biopsy done put on Bicalutamide 150. Once histology back deciding on LHRH injections. Waiting is horrid and had biopsy last Friday and they say we could have to wait another 2 weeks. I would like a book recommendation and diet too and anything else that may help. Thank you 🙏

Hi there

I’m sorry you’ve found yourself here.

My husband is not much further down the road from you.
he was diagnosed with Gleeson 9 and has recently had a radical prostectomy and we too are awaiting histology. He is 58

I don’t know much about diet but I did read cutting out dairy could be something worth considering? How effective this is I don’t know? I do know from talking to people that trying to get yourself as fit as possible for treatment is a good idea. I’m not saying taking up anything to radical if he dosnt already do this but just keeping active and weight down if possible, helps you through the treatment.

I hope the results show no spread and that he can have curative treatment but I have also read some very encouraging posts on here from people with advanced prostate cancer aswell.

Fingers crossed for you

take care

Thank you for replying and I’m sorry about your hubby too it’s so hard isn’t it. Yes we’ve cut out dairy already and cut down on red meat from what I’ve been reading online. He’s pretty active but could be better in that regard so we’re brisk walking regularly. Not knowing is so hard.

If you can find a copy [it's Australian], Patting the Shark by Tim Baker.

He's been through advanced prostate cancer and manged to beat it back.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I'm afraid I don't have any book or diet recommendations.

The waiting game is one of the hardest things to deal with. If you dont mind divulging, how old is your hubby? Please keep us informed of his results. The biopsy will obviously shed a lot more light on his condition.

You will get lots of help, support and advice on here and I wish you both luck along your journey.

Hi

Sorry you've found yourself in our little group, but there will be lots of advice and support on offer. Dairy products and processed meat seem to be the two main things we are advised to avoid. In terms of a book, then I would recommend "Fighting Prostate Cancer - A Survival Guide" by Dr Jyoti Shah MBE. It is a very practical and useful guide about what to expect, and how to deal with the situation we are in.

Good luck with the biopsy results, and keep us posted.

Ian.
