The Southampton Clinical Trials unit is looking for a diverse group of people who have experience of receiving radiotherapy treatment for prostate cancer to join an online focus group and give their thoughts on a new clinical trial called PROCOT which is looking to improve outcomes for men who would receive radiotherapy treatment alongside hormone treatment for high-risk prostate cancer.
How can you help?
We are looking for a diverse group of people who have experience of receiving radiotherapy treatment for prostate cancer to give their thoughts on this study plan through a prostate cancer focus group.
Initially this role will involve:
- Reviewing and giving your feedback on a written summary of the trial
- Attending one or two 45 min/1 hr virtual focus group meetings (via Microsoft Teams) in late July or early August.
We may later ask focus group members if they wish to become part of the study team which would involve attending further trial meetings and reviewing other study documents along the way.
You will be reimbursed £25/hr for your time.
How will we support you?
The Clinical Research Fellow for this trial will give you an initial overview of the project and support you throughout your role on the focus group alongside the SCTU Patient and Public Involvement Coordinator. There will also be wider support and resources available from our local network of public involvement professionals and other public contributors for any further involvement related to this project.
If you are interested in taking part or have any questions, please send your expression of interest to L.Allaway@soton.ac.uk by Wednesday 17th July 2024.

Could you help with a new research study looking at radiotherapy for prostate cancer?
