I am 64 years old and I've had to put up with an enlarged prostate for several years. I take a tamsulosine tablet once a day, which helps, but it hasn't stopped regular visits to the toilet during the night, sometimes as many as five visits.
I've recently found something that's really helped. By chance I decided to eat some dark chocolate, 70% cocoa, just before going to sleep and I had a restful night, just two visits to the toilet. So I had some more the following night and the same thing happened. I've been eating two squares of dark chocolate just before bedtime for about two months now and I'm sleeping better than I have for years. I visit the toilet just 2-3 times a night, which is a great improvement.
About a month ago I told my twin brother about my experience. He's had the same problem for years but the chocolate has helped him too.
I know there has been some research into this but the paper I read was inconclusive. Are you aware of it and do you think it deserves wider circulation?
