Post SBRT late urinary flare - my experience (so far)

Posting this for information purposes.

I completed 5 fractions of SBRT in April '23 (following 6 months of Prostap injections and an earlier short course of Bicalutamide).

I had various unpleasant urinary & bowel side effects during & immediately after the RT, although these all resolved after a couple of weeks and (notwithstanding one or two further bowel issues) things had been good ever since.

Until 2 months ago.  Since then, I have been suffering with the effects of what I understand to be called late urinary flare.  It started at the beginning of June when I failed to get to a toilet in time.  That had never happened before and, at the time, I thought it odd.  Since then, I have developed dysuria, increased frequency, nocturia and nighttime hesitancy, intermittence & weaker flow.  I still have occasional urgency - although have avoided any more accidents!  The skin of my penis also shows signs of irritation, presumably due to the frequency etc.

More recently, I have also developed tenesmus and there is slight anal discomfort when having a poo and it feels like the anal area is slightly irritated.

I am not on any medication for any of the above am trying to manage things through lifestyle alterations.  I have read one study online that stated the median duration of late urinary flare was 3 months and I am not far from that point.  However, the study also indicated a wide range of durations.

I will raise all of this with my oncologist at our next follow-up meeting in September and, if there is anything to report, I'll add a post here.
