Legs and feet

Hi,

I am now around 7 weeks post 37dose radiotherapy course.

Initially had extreme fatigue but this is improving slowly.

I also get breathless when walking uphill and and seem to suffer restless legs and a painful foot.

I had none of these problems prior to treatment and wonder if anyone else has experienced similar.

The specialist seems to think it's unlikely to be connected.

All in all my PSA is now below zero and hopefully remains there.

You should go to your GP and get blood tests done, Full Blood Count (FBC), Vitamin B12, iron.

Both the hormone therapy and the radiotherapy reduce your hemoglobin levels and this double whammy might have left you anemic, although you should be recovering from the radiotherapy effect by now. It might be that if you are short of B12 or iron, recovery could be slower, hence checking the levels.

Breathlessness can be caused by HT, but also might be made temporarily worse by the radiotherapy.

Hi BriBarney,

Have you been on HT and if so for how long? I had a lengthy period of restless legs in bed and I’ve had quite bad joint pain from my hips down to Achilles tendon. Although I’m now just finished my treatment I’m having a bad period ATM with hip pain. I would suggest it might be down to the HT rather than the RT.

Keep up with the weight bearing exercises if possible, even walking is good and buy some resistance bands if you are not a gym goer.

I hope you get some relief from this, HT for some people really affects their QOL.
