Struggling this past few days

User
Posted 12 Aug 2024 at 19:44

I don’t know what’s happened to me but the last few days have been quite difficult for me. I don’t really know why because I’m off on a cruise on Wednesday, but I’m finding I’m angry, short tempered, and quite emotional too😢😢 I haven’t felt like this for a long time. I’m just tired of fighting the effects of HT, I can’t lose weight, my joints have been hell the last few days and now I’ve developed shoulder pain which I’ve never had before. And of course the mind starts to wander.   Hot flushes, although reducing still happen in the most embarrassing places…like at the Next cash desk where I was paying for a new pair of oversize😩 trousers to go away.

Just wondering if anyone coming of HT has had anything like this?

Just to let you know that I’m now feeling great. 😊 This is the first Ocean cruise I’ve done and it is simply wonderful. I would thoroughly recommend Regent Seven Seas, the standard of service is out of this world. So far we’ve visited Syros(lovely), Santorini(to be avoided at all costs IMHO) and today Patmos(beautiful). I’ve eaten too much and probably drunk too much but what the hell, life’s too short🤣🤣🤣

Sounds like this could be normal Derek. Rising T after a long time on HT. Back to mental effects like anger and temper. You’re becoming a pubic teenager again. Maybe the T is trying to fix your hurting legs like a clumsy engineer. On the plus side you may soon get your mojo back like a raging stallion ….. only to find your partner isn’t interested.

Good luck to you ok. Enjoy the cruise and some downtime. Try not to shout at the waiters 🤣🤣

Decho, apart from six months of Bicalutamide I have avoided HT for over ten years. I always found going on holiday was stressful, usually because I had to cram extra work in before I went away.

I find I sometimes need a rest from these forums, you give alot of support to the guys on here, remember to have a bit of "me" time. Take care of yourself and have a nice break.

Thanks Chris

Sorry to hear you're battling so many problems. Hopefully the cruise will lift your spirits a bit.

I don't have any HT experience so bumping this post in the hope that someone else will see and comment.

Good luck.

Kev.

Hi Derek

Sorry to hear your not feeling great, hope you feel better soon and all symptoms subside. Hope someone will soon respond to your question.

Sounds understandable you get tired of the HT side effects, Alan has only just began his journey on HT and he's already having side effects you describe, he's been told he might have to take them up to 5yrs. Mentally he feels at times overwhelmed and vulnerable, but like you brave guys battling this he carries on as normal as before the diagnosis, and have faith the treatment will work.

Have you taken any natural remedies what may help symptoms? We are interested in finding out if they help

All the best to you and enjoy your holiday

I know what you mean on the hot flushes. I can’t stand it when I am talking to someone and then for no apparent reason just start dripping in sweat. Hoping things pick up for you soon. Remember, this thing is not linear, there are ups and downs. I am hoping you get an up soon.

Hey Derek….just to say… .these hormones are a b****!! (Having gone through menopause and all its side effects, I can sympathise!!). Sometimes you’ve just got to give in to your emotions, it all builds up and you’ve just got to let go…. Then you’ll be on top of things again! Your holiday is probably just what you need right now, so go and enjoy it! Hope it’s amazing!

I got some sensitive breasts and breast growth as my Testosterone came back. I can't explain the mechanism as that's not what I'd expect, but it seems I was far from the only one. I guess changes in hormones can mess things up in strange ways. It didn't last long.

I hope you're feeling better soon.

Hi Derek

Sorry to hear you are having a rough time, especially as you are normally one of the most positive people on here. I can't help you out I'm afraid, as I had surgery, albeit only four weeks ago. I'm just commenting to send my commiserations and keep you at the top of the leaderboard.

Enjoy your cruise mate, and don't worry about the oversize trousers, as they'll soon be redundant. I've just had to replace mine as they were falling down. I appear to be losing weight quite rapidly at the minute, which, after the novelty value wears off, is not much fun either.

Can you chat to any of the guys from your Maggies group before you head off?

Ian.

Hi Ian,

Yes, I have many close friends from Maggies who have been a brilliant support through our WhatsApp group.

Feeling much better today, it just gets to you at times and makes you want to scream when someone tells you

’You’re  looking great!’ Or ‘You’re going to be fine!’

I got cheered up last night when we got our cabin numbers and we’ve been upgraded to a penthouse suite which looks amazing! They must have known!

When are you going to take a trip on the Woolwich car ferry?

Brilliant news Decho.

My viewpoint is sadly dominated by the news that my brother died last evening from cancer (not PC). Make the most of the life ytou have!

And assuming you haven't spent your life so far eating and drinking too much, it's fine to eat and drink now as long as you are having fun.
