My 11 Year Journey with Prostate Cancer

Hi Friends ,

Although not easy to write, I wanted to tell my story in the hope it could encourage All Men to seek Prostate Cancer Diagnostic Screening as early as possible.

Too often, men [like me] avoid or delay routine screenings for Prostate Cancer because they fear the unknown, It can seem be scary and somewhat embarrassing, but it can also be life saving!

My only symptoms were going to the Toilet/WC to urinate/wee far too often, fortunately, my wife urged me go to my Doctor for an assessment and sadly, the results showed that I had Prostate Cancer which had migrated out of my Prostate.

I was originally diagnosed in 2014, with T3 Metastatic Castration-Resitant Prostate Cancer, which was a major shock to myself and of course my family, and maybe could have been avoided if,

“I HAD GONE FOR MUCH EARLIER REGULAR PROSTRATE CHECKS”

Fortunately, Prostate Cancer Treatment has significantly advanced since my diagnosis, and I am very fortunate to now be in my 11 Year of Treatment, thanks to my amazing Medical, Oncology, Radiotherapy and Specialist Cancer Nurse Teams at Leicester NHS Trust Hospitals.

I have received numerous treatments including Radical/Stereo-Tactic radiotherapy, hormone therapy and 37 months Enzalutamide therapy, I am now about to commence(16th August 24) on 10 sessions of palliative Chemotherapy to slow down the progress of my various tumours.

To those who are reading this, Please, Please, encourage all the men in your life to get screened for Prostate Cancer as early as possible, so that Partners, Granddads, Dads, Husbands, Uncles, Brothers, and Friends can continue  to enjoy all the magic moments they deserve in their lives with their families and loved ones for as long as possible!

If I can be of any help on your journey please don't hesitate to contact me on this forum

Thanks for Listening!

Pete/Pedro

You've done well on your treatment plan Pete.

As a matter of interest what was your starting PSA and Gleason score?

Hi Pete, completely agree with you, we've got to get the message out there to get checked. I tell everyone I meet to do it in the hope that it may save a life.

Best of luck with your treatment, Best wishes.

Neil
