Hi Terrie, thanks for getting in touch and I'm sorry to hear you're in this situation too. I tried to reply to your message but unfortunately I haven't been involved in the forum enough yet to be allowed to do this. The waiting is difficult isn't it, hopefully you get some clarity in October and the best possible news at the appointment. Look after yourself as it's important for us to do that as well when we're supporting our Dads. Loz x

Hi Terriex

I'm sorry to hear about your dad. How old is he?

I see from your other posts that he is Gleason 9 (4+5) which indicates a more aggressive type of cancer.

Tb3 is a cancer staging showing that the tumour has breached the prostate capsule and has spread to the seminal vesicles. It can then spread to lymph nodes.

This sounds frightening, but it is curable. There are men on here with a similar diagnosis who have been treated and who are recovering.

Terriex. I think you'll be able to private message after you've done 10 posts.

It's sad that your dad has got prostate cancer but it's lovely to see that you are doing your best to support him.

As you are probably aware a high percentage of men your dad's age will have the disease. The important thing to remember is that your dad's cancer is curable. I'm sure other blokes on here with a similar diagnosis will assure you of that.

If all goes well his life span may not be affected. I'm sure you'll have many happy years left with your dad.

Best of luck to both of you.

I'm fine thanks. I had a very similar diagnosis to your dad. I was 66 years old, T3a which is just below your dad's, the tumour had breached the prostate capsule but hadn't spread any further.  I was also Gleason 9 (4+5). I had robotic surgery and 18 months later there is no detectable PSA. With your dad being T3b, they've probably ruled out surgery, because I believe it can cause spread, and will be treating him with hormones and radiotherapy. I fully understand your anxiety, my 4 kids felt the same.
