Hi

My father in law has been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer and he is already on decapeptyl injections and he has been given a choice to start Enazalutamide or Docetaxel. I was just wandering if anyone has been given a choice between these two treatments and how did you decide which treatment to go for?

Thank you

Hi

I had the same choice when I was diagnosed in 2022 my oncologist was no help with helping me with the decision,I chose enza as I thought it was less life changing,I took 4 tablets every morning, enza for me gave me around 18months but this can vary for everybody.

Hi Blackberry, my story so far diagnosed 2019, when for chemo but had a adverse reaction so no more chemo options, a couple of months later when HT seemed to be failing I was put on enzalutamide and haven't looked back. Looking back thro' PC articles I came up with this link ref docetaxel,

Hope this gives you an insight main thing is to have a talk with your oncology team to help you make your mind up

Hi

I was offered chemo, but decided the potential for side effects on quality of life were unacceptable at that time (even if I might be no worse off after it finished). There was no chance that I would have been able to keep going in my job as a teacher during the treatments.

Consequently, I considered enzalutamide and a similar drug apalutamide. Having looked at all the potential side effects I went with apalutamide. So far over two years in, with PSA<0.1and only hot flushes and tiredness to compete with.

I had the same choice almost 3 years ago.

Chose Enza, and apart from the side effects, I am doing well.

But everyone's disease is different
