i have always cycled alot but had a lot of time off to see if improved, nothing

it Burns when i go to the toilet and the feeling of needing to go never really goes  sometimes i go 20 mins later just to releave what feels like pressure on my prostate

I've had similar symptoms for 3 years now. I feel your pain. It took an absolute age to get diagnosed.

Some really poor healthcare along the way including my GP in annoyance asking what I wanted him to do. A specialist who started the consolation asking who I was and why I was there. Maybe check your notes mate? It ended with him telling me I had sciatica. That followed up 3 months of pointless chiropractic sessions and a lot of wasted money.

After 2 years, I finally gave up on the NHS, paid private and was diagnosed in 15 minutes.

Physio has helped to get past the worst symptoms but quickly plateaud. Did you have internal massage? Are you using a pelvic wand?

I hope it gets better for you. It's not fun at all. Keep an eye on your mental health as mine plummeted after the 2 year mark. I'm having counselling to keep on top of things at more personal expense.

I suffered from prostatitis for many years before I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I have a suspicion that continuous inflammation of the prostate for many years may be the cause of my prostate cancer - there is no scientific evidence for this - but there is some anecdotal evidence that serious cyclists may be at risk. After my diagnosis I had an option to remove my prostate which I chose hoping that my prostatitis would leave with the prostate which it did. I no longer have any prostatitis symptoms. That was over 13 years ago. Of course I am not suggesting this as a cure!

I tried prostate massage with no avail but there is some evidence that 'milking' the prostate helps some people.

As far as I know from my long experience prostatitis has no cure but it waxes and wanes and can disappear completely. In my view it is advisable to keep your eyes on your PSA.

I hear ya. My patience is the same, although I've never been that much of a patient person. I'd definitely try the internal release stuff. It's a bit embarrassing but with this condition that's standard ha! From what I understand a lot of people get positive results from it. It helped me but only to make it better, not a cure. Maybe in time with continued therapy, who knows. The pelvic wand thing also is like internal release just not as effective as you're self-directed and not a pelvic physio doing the work.

I wish there were more successful treatments. Physio and counselling have been the only positives so far. I'm hoping pain team offer something to make the bad days easier.

I hope those upcoming appointments help, interesting idea on the antibiotics into the prostate. Please let me know if it helps?

I think going down the antibiotics route is an easy option for the doctors because they can't think of anything better. Many years ago, before I had my prostate removed, when I was referred to a urologist he massaged my prostate to produce prostatic fluid to check for infection. The result was negative and he lost interest in my case! I also purchased a medical grade prostate massager and used it for a few weeks but no discernible improvement. However after we have had sex the pain seem to virtually disappear for a couple of days; masturbation did not  help. So we had a lot of sex! Joking apart, I wish there was an answer because the condition is so debilitating.
