I am on Active Surveillance for prostate cancer, Gleason 3 plus 4. Since being diagnosed a year ago my PSA has steadily fallen from 8.8 to 2.2. I believe the elevated PSA was caused by an ITIND procedure for BPH. See profile for more details. I am due an MRI next February.
Last week I started taking sublingual Desmopressin for the BPH, as prescribed by my urologist. I get up three or more times during the night to pee. The Desmopressin has stopped the nighttime urination but it has also given me prolonged headaches and a dry mouth. The dry mouth has caused me to wake up during the night. Last night at 3.30am I also awoke with acid reflux. I have never suffered from this.
I am also peeing infrequently during the day. Yesterday I went over twelve hours without urinating - an evident cause for concern.
My GP has told me to take the Desmopressin three times per day.
Has anybody any experience of taking this drug, any advice they could offer me or any observations they could make?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Keith
