Bone marrow involvement

Hello, I’ve been on this journey for 6 years now and I’ve just found out my PCa has spread to my bone marrow. Locations are lower spine, hip and a rib. No pain though.

I recently had Docetaxel Chemo for 7 sessions but it hit me so hard they’ve cancelled the remaining 3. My consultant is now talking about Radium 223 and we have a discussion about it when I see him mid December.

I can’t find much information on bone marrow involvement on this forum or anywhere else. I see a couple of comments that it’s not a good prognosis.
So has anyone on here got any experience of bone marrow involvement or the Radium 223 treatment?

My Bio is up to date if you’d like to see my journey so far.

Feeling a bit emotional as I feel like we’re running out of options now . Probably be better after seeing the consultant and getting a plan in place.

Thanks

Phil

Sorry you're going through this.

Bone marrow mets are more usually simply called bone mets, so very common when prostate cancer spreads.

Ah so it was already in the marrow when they told me a while back about the bone Mets … ! That’s why when i put bone marrow in I don’t get much info available…

I do have quite a few questions for when I’m back up the hospital 👍🤔

Cheers

Hi there,

Yes it is a bit overwhelming, but I suppose after 7 years we get a little bit used to that feeling…!

Last appointment in December they gave me a rest from any treatment except the HT until we meet up again in February. I suppose they might not start the Radium until I start to feel some pain as it doesn’t really do much to push the cancer back.

So still feeling ok and actually went back to badminton yesterday after a break of 6 months or so due to the chemo. Had to watch I didn’t overdo it and careful of my footwork due to the Neuropathy in my feet.  Need to look for some remedies that might help a bit with that.

Like many of us on here I’ve just gotta wait and see what happens….

cheers, take care

Phil

Hi Phil,

I think your post may have been in response to one that was posted early. I reported it for containing a gaming link and it's been deleted.

These scammers really annoy me. They use AI generated responses, then hide gaming links in what on first sight seem legitimate cancer links.  People who abuse a site used by  those with often very serious health issues are beyond contempt. If caught, they should be made to have a DRE, by a doctor with hands like shovels.
