I have BRCA 2 prostate cancer. Locally advanced so had surgery, then follow up RT/Hormone therapy. Under control for now.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer about 6 months ago. My doctor recommended hormone therapy. My condition is improving.

Hi

I was tested for the BRCA 2 gene but unfortunately I was not eligible for olaparib,so I'm unable to help but wish you all the best.

I’ve only just seen this. DH was diagnosed 10 years ago. He had brachytherapy. PSA was at 0.01 for about 5 years before it started to rise. More recently dh’s dd was diagnosed with breast cancer at a very young age. We found out she has the brca2 gene, dh tested too, he also has the gene. Roll on a few years and we find out that dh’s original diagnosis was wrong and that he’d had mets in lymph nodes all along (prostate was treated and still no cancer there)

As dh has the gene they say chemo might not work. So he was put on zoladex and enza. His PSA has been less than 0.01 ever since. 18 months. We were told once these stop working then olaparib will be next.

Hi David, tested positive to BRACA2 approx 18 months ago  following both sister having breast cancer. Not wanting to be left out I was diagnosed with prostrate cancer and went on active surveillance as psa only 5 & biopsy grading 4+3. Unfortunately last biopsy showed a change grading of 4+5, psa not above 6.5,

so opted for surgery after looking at all the options and discussions. My biggest fear is the incontinence as I’m very active person but most of the professional want to talk about ED.

So I’m now day 1 post op, the surgeon said it was a text book op and 🤞minimal nerve damage only time I’ll tell.

I have no regrets getting tested for BRAC2
