Invicorp v Caverject v Viridal duo is there one that’s “better”

I have finally summoned up the courage to get a referral back to the ED clinic after trying and failing with all the tablets and rings. I saw the consultant today and he has made me an appointment for me to see the nurse to try out injections. He briefly explained how they work, how its to be injected and what to expect, saying the nurse would go into much more detail during the next visit.

Reading through the various posts on here there looks to be 3 different injections that are available. My consultant mentioned Caverject so not sure if I will get chance to choose a particular one but if I do get a choice which one should I try first ?

In people’s experience is one better/more reliable than the others?

Is one easier to administer ?

Is one less likely to cause you any pain/problems/trip to A&E with Priapism?

Thanks for the help

Getting a referral to the ED clinic is a good move. I think injections are definitely worth trying, they were a game changer for me. I started on Viridal Duo then after that, Caverject. They're a kind of self contained injector that you select the dose required, and they use a small needle. The instructions are very good but the ED nurse will show you how to use it as well.

One thing I would say, is to start with the minimum dose, I never needed more than 2.5 mcg. I found the first couple of erections a little painful but then I hadn't had a proper erection for several months following my operation.

I have no experience of Invicorp though and some people swear by it, hopefully someone else will comment.

Good luck.

Hi philip smith,

People have different experiences of the various injections.

I found Invicorp caused me almost no discomfort afterwards, whereas both Caverject and Viridal Duo did.  That said, I found the erection created by Invicorp to be less rigid and unsuitable for penetration in my case.  One disadvantage (in my experience) is that Invicorp only comes in one dosage, so you can't increase the amount you take in order to get a firmer erection.

Caverject seems to be largely identical to Viridal Duo in terms of effects. The main difference is that Viridal Duo is much easier to prepare.  You just push the injector and this mixes the 2 components, whereas with Caverject you have to mix them yourself, which is a bit fiddly.  I found that they both make my penis and scrotum ache afterwards, but I've gotten used to it now.  They both come in doses of 10, 20 or 40 mcg.  Usually, the Nurse will recommend that you start on the lowest dose and only increase the dose if you need it.  I found that I need the maximum dose of 40mcg. to achieve a really firm erection which is suitable for penetration.  I didn't notice any significant increase in the aching sensation as I increased the dosage to the maximum.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,

JedSee.

I also get a significant dull ache in my penis after using Viridal duo, so I'm going to try some painkillers before. I inject the full amount of the 20% but do not achieve a useable erection, so I will be adding 2.5g to the other side, if I can stop my left hand shaking. I'm going to try Invicorp if the increase in amount doesn't do the trick. What I'd like to know is, apparently Invicorp requires stimulation whereas Viridal duo doesn't. So does the erection disappear if not constantly stimulated and do you get the same pain?

Hello mate.

I don't need to be sexually stimulated to get an erection with Invicorp. In fact, by the time you've cracked open the phial, fitted two different needles, to withdraw, then inject the drug, the urge has often faded. 😁

I've always thought it was purely an automatic chemical reaction and that the drug causes an almost immediate blood flow to the penile chambers. I thought this was the same for all injected drugs for ED. After all, you aren't sexually aroused in an ED clinic where you're first shown how to use, and test how effective it is.

I thought it was only ED tablets that needed sexual arousal to work.

My erections whether sexually enhanced or not, last for about 90 minutes, until the drug wears off.
