Hi everyone,
I been lurking through this resource over the last day or so, and have been encouraged by the candid and supportive posts from users on various parts of this journey. So first a thank-you.
My situation is that I am yet to be diagnosed but there's apparently a reasonable chance a have cancer.
I arranged a PSA test over the internet simply because I'm in my 50s with a family history, and was surprised that there is no active screening via the NHS.
No specific symptoms, but had noticed flow rate had reduced over the last couple of years, but no biggie. Just getting older I assumed.
PSA result: 6.7
This was repeated at my doctor's surgery a couple of days later with a result PSA - 8.1.
MRI scan a couple of weeks later:
PI-RADS 3 lesion of 3cm (which I understand is quite large).
Surgeon seemed pretty sure that if this was PC it would be early stages with no detection of secondaries in the pelvic region.
Biopsy performed and I'm due to get my results next week.
I've been getting other symptoms recently including pains in my lower ribs and central back, which of course, has me questioning whether these may be secondary sites of PC.
A bit more concerned now as I was informed I would get the results by phone, however the nurse I spoke after the results were in informed me that a face to face at the hospital was requested in this case.
Anyway we'll see, and it's great to know there's support here whatever the outcome.
