Hi a couple of weeks ago I had to go to critical care because I could not pee or go to toilet the doctor examined me and said that I had an enlarged prostate it was smooth  and gave some anitbiotics which I took for a week . I did a urine test after 7 days and this came back clear . I the did a PSA test and this came back with a reading of 7.6 . I am taking tamsolosin which have improved my symptoms . The doctor has advised me to see a urologist within 14 days , I am really worried

Hi mj.

Welcome to the forum, mate.

Your elevated PSA could be caused by your enlarged prostate or other non cancerous prostate conditions or UTIs. Try not to worry and enjoy the Xmas break. 👍

Best of luck pal.

As Adrian says, there are many reasons for having an elevated PSA. You need to carry on with the diagnosis process, but you don't need to be worried until someone confirms you have something to worry about.

An MRI is standard procedure mate. So don't worry about that. It will show if there are any suspicious areas. IF there are they will investigate further. Honestly at this stage don't worry, because there's nothing to worry about apart from whether the turkey will thaw on time.

Adrian is bang on target! My MRI was really easy, just relax and let the machine do it's thing, the technician will look after you.

I looked at my scan and it really didn't mean much to me, the radiologist pointed out the areas he thought needed further investigation and I had a biopsy.

That came back negative so all is well.

I managed not to get too tied up in the things that are posted online. As Adrian has said before, a lot of it is negative because the ones who get a good result don't tend to hang around to post.

Please just try to clear your mind down of the horror stories and only start to worry WHEN there is something to worry about.

Enjoy Christmas and new year like there's nothing wrong with you, there probably isn't.

When you get the all clear you will feel pretty much you wasted a lot of energy worrying for nothing.

Best wishes, mick.

Hi again.

Best of luck with your scan results.

Remember, worrying will only spoil today and not change tomorrow.

Hi,

just got scan results, No PC

Strange outcome I have a 3 cm cyst on prostate.

Anyone had any experience on this ?

I have had a liver cyst for years. My understanding is that they can appear on many organs and are routine. Just something to confirm with your Doctor. A good radiologist is able to determine its a cyst.
