Urine Control Whilst Jogging

Hello All

First time poster

I'm 56 an had a radical prostatectomy in June 2024.  Now after 6 months of pelvic floor exercises I no longer need to wear pads for general day to day activities.

However I still need a light pad if I go jogging.  I really like jogging and I really would like to be able to go out for run without the need of a pad. Is this a realistic goal?  Can I expect further improvements beyond 6 months of pelvic floor exercises?

Currently I use the NHS squeezy APP and do  slow and quick contraction exercises 3 times a day. For those joggers out there were there any other exercises that helped with bladder control whilst running?

many thanks

Paul

Everyone is different but it seems like you are lucky and doing well. I’m 20 months post op and need a pad every day. I don’t jog but when I’m hiking or in the gym I do find I leak more. I’ve been doing the squeezes since pre op and have seen an improvement but have now plateaued so I’m guessing this is now it. It’s something I’ve come to terms with and adapt. There’s a lot of things that could be worse. Good luck .

Hi Paul

I'm 60, and a month behind you, having had my RARP in July last year. I'm down to one pad per day generally, but if I run (which I'm keen to get back to) I leak for the first few minutes. It seems to settle down after that. I've heard that core strengthening exercises can help, which seems to make sense, so will be starting to do some of these. There are a few runners on here, so hopefully some tips and advice might be forthcoming.
