Hi All,

My dad is due to being RT in February, and today and a phone consult with the oncologist. He mentioned to the oncologist that he is struggling with the hot flushes and she recommended a supplement from Holland and Barret and he couldn't catch the name of it, he asked 3 times and then gave up. Does anyone know what this might be?

We tried going to the GP a few weeks ago and suprise suprise they were useless and told him to speak to his oncologist which is easier said than done.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. He has a little fan he carries around with him, but would be nice if he didn't have to do that.

Thanks!

Could be Evening Primrose or Sage?

Hi,

it might have been Probably Evening Primrose Oil or Sage Leaf. I tried the sage leaf but didn’t do an awful lot for me. If they are really troublesome ask your CNS..there’s a prescription drug you can get to help.

i found acupuncture helped a little.

Get him a couple of these little devices…they helped me a lot and i still carry one around with me even though I’ve finished HT and my hot flushes have improved.

Assuming you are around menopause age you could go into Holland and Barrett and ask what they recommend for menopause

They do one which is really good  someone told me about it and how it stopped her arthritis I think the name of it  is an acronym with an A in it I think it has a combination of ingredients

Others have mentioned Evening Primose oil which gives some relief

Evening Primose is good anyway to fight prostate cancer , high cholesterol , high blood pressure and because it is high in Gamma Linolenic acid it is a natural 5 alpha reductase inhibitor ( it blocks DHT )
