PSA 4.88 with history of kidney cancer

Hi,

I’m writing for my husband. He had kidney cancer 5 years ago, surgery and all clear. After recent MOT bloods showed 4.88 psa. Internal check showed a “firmness” and MRI today.

We are trying to stay positive and off google but fear has set in because of the previous cancer.

Does anyone have a similar story please? TIA

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I feel very sorry for you both, having dealt with kidney cancer, and now having to deal with possible prostate problems.

How old is your husband?

His slightly abnormal PSA level could be caused by non cancerous prostate conditions, the MRI will shed more light on 'the state of play'.

I'm not medically trained but it appears very unlikely that the kidney cancer is connected any prostate issues.

Best of luck with the MRI and please keep us updated.

Thank you so much for your reply. He’s 59.
I think if it weren’t for the history we wouldn’t be so worried as it (google) says it could be many things and he doesn’t have any urination issues! I’ll update as and when. Thanks again.
