Hi

I am 4 weeks post prostate removal . Generally all good apart from v tired in afternoon and low bladder control in afternoon. Assume this is fairly standard?

Mike, welcome to the forum, you don't say which type of surgery you had. With robotic surgery the scars may be small on the outside but  a lot happened on the inside. I found my rate of recovery increased more each day as time went on.

It might be worth putting your details in your profile, it is useful to us and I use mine as a record for quick reference.

Best wishes for your recovery.

Thanks Chris

Hi Mike,

Yes, fatigue and incontinence issues are very common following a prostatectomy. Recovery times vary enormously, but I believe most men regain full continence after about 6 months.

Good luck mate. 👍

Hi Mike

I’m also just over 4 weeks since surgery, I’m not too bad on the tiredness front now, for the first couple of weeks I was tired and napping later in the day. I also find leaking is minimal in the morning, I then go for a daily walk in the early afternoon and leak several times whilst out and then after that the control isn’t great. I’ve just assumed the gravity whilst moving around is the cause, on the whole it is improving. I did get a call from the GPs earlier in the week to say that I have a UTI and so now on antibiotics, that probably hasn’t helped either! I wish you all the best with your continued recovery, keep us posted

Hi Mike,

I had robotic surgery almost exactly 6 months ago so know exactly how you feel. I have always walked a lot and, at first, wasn't able to do things at once - walk and control my bladder. I have kept doing the standard sets of kegels 6 times/day and bladder training as advised by the support team and my Hospital. The Hospital discharged me with a supply of active Fit Tena Men ( like a shield) and I went through about 4 or 5 a day. When the Continence service took over, I got deliveries of Comfort Mini (they hold up to 1 pint of liquid, I was told and are cheaper).

I now only use one of these a day, mainly as a safety net and am running and walking pretty closely to where I was pre operation. I was told by Continence Service that the target was 100% managed and guess I'm about there now.

Keep doing the exercises, you'll get there.
