Returning to Exercise after Biopsy

H, I had a transperineal biopsy 8 days ago and was wondering if others have any views about returning to exercise. I am a keen triathlete and runner with events coming up in March. I have started running in the last few days and wonder if it is impeding the repair of the prostate from the biopsy. I get my results on Thursday so a bit apprehensive about that also. Thanks

I asked about getting back out on my  after my biopsy and was told that would be fine after a few days, as long as it’s comfortable. I didn’t have any issues. I can’t imagine running would cause any issues but why not ask your CNS.

waiting on results is the worst part of this journey and you’re bound be apprehensive. be kind to yourself and those close to you…it will help take your mind off it.

I hope the results are encouraging and wish you all the best on your journey, whatever that may entail.

Hi. I had a 10k booked in 11 days after my biopsy, the CNS said to take it easy and just see how I felt nearer the time. I felt ok leading up to it and so I ran it, it wasn’t a great run from a performance point of view but I enjoyed the fact that was getting out and it was a welcomed distraction whilst waiting for the results.

I wish you all the best with your results and the path that you choose, also good luck with the triathlons!

Thanks JP, I’ve done a couple of 10k slow and easy runs which went ok with no noticeable symptoms of biopsy, so hoping to step up a bit at the weekend. As you say it is a great way to bring distraction into the process before receiving results. Jonny
