Loo trips overnight

I am 12 years post surgery and radiotherapy.

I get up to pee around 3am and get back to sleep.

Lights out 11:20 and I'm asleep within 10 minutes
I wake around 5 with a small desire to pee. If I go to the loo, I can't get back to sleep, the brain kicks in on a few subjects (not distressing ones) . If I don't go, the dull ache is enough to stop me going back to sleep and the brain kicks in.
So usually it's 1 pee between 11:20 and 5, but recently it's started to be 2 times.

It's been like this since surgery but now I am falling asleep in the daytime or evening once I stop doing something and sit. I've missed chuncks of at least 2 concerts.

After surgery the specialist continence nurse said there were drugs but they had side-effects and I chose to see how it went.
In the last 4 years 1 GP has suggested 'mind over matter' and another has given me 7 sleeping tablets which I don't intend to use as she has written in my notes that I have trouble getting to sleep (something lost in translation there)

I want to go to my next appointment armed with some knowledge and it could be useful to hear any stories.

TIA

Hi,

I'm just over 5 years post op and 2 years post SRT.

I'm usually in bed around 10:30 - 11ish and often up a couple of times a night, once in the wee small hours and again around 6. I put this down to my habit of drinking a pint of squash in the evening. A urologist once advised me not to drink anything after 7pm but I often ignore the advice and usually drink later. Sometimes I'll have a beer (ale) which doesn't seem to change my night time routine.

Interestingly though, I met some friends last night and had a couple of pints of 0.5% Ghostship and a J2o (driving), and that had me up four times in the night. I think the Ghostship is slightly carbonated as it's not quite like a regular ale.

I also avoid caffeine where possible as it definitely has an affect on my bladder.

Cheers,

Kev.
