Kegel exercises

Hi all.

I've got my meeting this week to discuss options regarding treatment of my prostate cancer.

I read on here thst it's a good idea to start kegel exercises now whilst waiting for the surgery, I am advised thst the current waiting list for surgery is 2 months. I've been using the Squeezy app. 6 times per day slow and fast ones. My goal is thst if I decide to go with surgery then to regain continence ASAP is my priority. Does it make a difference as to what position you are in when doing the excercises. So, standing, sitting, lying down.

Also if offered nerve sparing surgery, does this make recovering continence quicker? Or is the nerve sparing more to do with ED?

I think nerve sparing is more related to ED and Retzius sparing helps considerably with incontinence.

Arthur, totally agree with Ned, Retzius is reported as giving earlier continence recovery. I didn't have Retzius and was 99 percent dry 4 days after catheter removal. In some cases the Retzius surgeons use a suprapubic catheter.

I did pelvic floor exercises for four months, I probably did most of mine driving up and down the M6/M74. I don't recall doing many, if any when laying down.

The physio on Andy's zoom meetings recommends to practice tightening the pelvic muscles before/when you go from sitting to standing.

Thanks Chris
