Post chemo heel pain in left foot

Hi I wonder if anyone can help. My hubby completed 6 chemo infusions in December and has now developed heel pain. Has anyone else experienced this? He has a CT scan tomorrow as follow up to chemo. He will see his oncologist at the end of the month for ct results who may be able to shed some light.

Any help appreciated thank you.

Gary found when he had chemo ,that all the parts where he had broken bones over the years were targeted! His knee ,elbow and even his thumb . Has your hubby had any damage to his heel / ankle before ? Not sure if this happens or if it was coincidence.

Best wishes

Hi Debby

Yes He’s just said he broke his left ankle as a teen and that’s the ankle that seems to swell through the day more than the other one.   We are hoping it’s not peripheral neuropathy or plantar fasciitis. It’s distressing having pain when walking. I’ll get him to call his specialist nurse to see if she can refer him. Thank you

Hi

I finished 10 sessions of chemo July last year,I have pins and needle sensations and the feeling of there not my own feet when lying in bed sometimes,I'm led to believe that the nerve endings can be damaged during chemo.

Hope you get it sorted regards Phil

Hi Phil

Thank you for replying that must be hard to have at night. Yes we wonder if it’s a nerve issue. Time will tell.

Best wishes to you

This may not help with the heel pain, but before I started my first session of chemo back in 2019, one of the oncology nurses advised that I take a broad Vitamin B supplement (B3, B6, B12 etc), as it helps to minimise nerve damage.

I followed the advice, and having had 2x 6 cycles of Docetaxel, I never had any peripheral neuropathy / pins & needles etc.  A vit B supplement is cheap and easy to take, and certainly won't do any harm.

Hello

Although I'm on the PCa journey, fortunately I'm not at the chemo stage but I do suffer from Peripheral Neuropathy in my legs and the Facebook group I'm in very often has people stating that they developed PN after Chemo. My PN has developed over 20 years and although I have feeling in my legs so walking, driving, exercise aren't inhibited my legs tingle and twitch all the time and at night they get unpleasant burning sensations. After all these years I've just started taking Pregabalin which along with Gabapentin is the first line choice (at least for non-chemo PN) of nerve pain killers. Its pretty hit & miss and may not be appropriate but it might be somewhere to start.

I wish you well
