I had a PSMA Pet scan last July and don't recall having to do anything different at all. The only prep was they injected me with some nuclear "stuff" and left me in a room for 3 hours while it got around my body. The scan itself was only about 45 mins.

The only thing I was warned about was going anywhere near babies or pregnant women for for 72 hours after.

had my pmsa pet scan wednesday, wish id taken a book to read as i waited for injection to circulate, scan itself took 24 minutes and wouldve been routine except i have a frozen shoulder...well ye bugger i was in agony for the full 24 minutes, and i wonder if scan may be tainted by my pain.been told it will be ten days before results are forthcoming.if anyone else has a frozen shoulder i would ask about strong painkillers before scan,as i was in agony.also praticing passing 24 minutes maybe helpful.

Welly, for some reason I didn't see your original post, if I had, I would have replied. I have a bit of a dodgy shoulder and was relieved when I could bring my arms down. Hope your scan shows something that be easily treated.

Thanks Chris

Thanks Chris to be fair to radiographers they allowed me to keep my arms by my side, I can't raise them above my head, but the pain was still extreme, just hope that the 24 minutes of gurning didn't invalidate the scan,I'd have benefited from a countdown clock which only became visible at 4 minutes before end of scan, maybe the technicians could've kept me updated if I had asked.i will mention it to my urologist to see if anything could've been done to help any men in the future, mind the wait for my results is becoming as excruciating, they suggested 10 days, at least there's signs of spring for me to discover. Hope the sun warms your day, joe
