Hi,my husband has just been diagnosed with prostate cancer, his psi is 6.7,gleeson 4+3 and a cpg score of 7,they offered him robotic surgery to remove the prostate followed by radiotherapy and hormone therapy,he doesn't want the radiotherapy or hormone therapy but doesn't mind the surgery, but they've just done a ct scan and bone scan which we haven't had results back from yet and got a letter through today with a date for his surgery,,19th march, does this mean the bone scan is clear,it was nearly 2 weeks ago he had his scans, really scared incase it's spread,he's 66 x

They wouldn't offer surgery if they know it's spread. So either the scan has come up clear, or there's a lack of communication in the hospital (hope not, but not completely impossible with the NHS). You could call and check - you want to ask for the urology clinical nurse specialists.

Hi,

I'm sorry to see that your husband has PCa, but its nice to see that your support for him has lead you here. Welcome to the forum.

As Andy says it appears, if surgery has been offered, that the bone scan was clear.

Do you know your husband's cancer staging. On the information you've given, I can't see why he having radio therapy and hormone treatment immediately after surgery.

I hope the treatment goes well.

Please keep us updated.

The T3a staging means the prostate capsule has been breached. It explains why, after surgically removing the prostate, they intend using radio therapy and hormone treatment to the area near the breach.

I was T3a, and had surgery but the location of my breach didn't warrant additional radio therapy or hormone treatment.

Well, had results from the bone and ct scan back today,,the bone scan is clear,,thank goodness! but the ct scan has picked up a nodule on his adrenal gland, they said it isn't enough to stop his surgery going ahead on the 19th march but they want him to have another MRI,,something else to add into the mix!
