Hi just looking for advice. My husband has just started his hormone therapy - very recent diagnosis. He been taking bicalutamide for 2 weeks and has another 2 weeks to go. He has had his first injection of decapeptyl  on Tuesday and next one is in 3 months but then they changing it to every 6 months. With 6 months the dosage  is significantly higher so was wondering if it better to have injection every 3 months and maybe therefore less side effects. His cancer already in lymph nodes and his Gleason score is 4+4 and been advised operation is not an option due to spread in lymph nodes in pelvis and nodes away from prostate. Thanks very much Taz

I’ve been on Deca for 4 years now on 3 monthly injections. They have tried to switch me to 6 months a couple of times but I rejected it. Not actually sure if it causes more side effects but your theory ( and mine ) is that if ain’t broken then don’t fix it :-)

I’ve been on six monthly injections of decapeptyl for three years and I’m not having another one in March so they can see if the cancer was suppressed or gone. I didn’t have any really bad side effects, just weight gain ( which I dealt with by dieting) and a reduction in strength. I’m also impotent as a result but I had a good run as a young man.
