Phimosis

After now being about 15 months post RARP, since to nerves were involved, there has been a lack of activity down below.  Now I have Phimosis.  The foreskin is extremely difficult to retract, and if I succeed in that activity, it can take a good 10 minutes of struggling to get it back where it normally resides.  Normally all of this leaves me with splits and tears in the skin and is very painful.  Having spoken to my medical advisor, he was not amused at alland I have an urgent meeting with a urologist tomorrow with discussions about possible circumcision and other more disfiguring procedures.  Andy62 warned me about this last year, but I didn't heed his warnings so now I get to pay the price.  I will update, possibly after tomorrows consult.

Hello again mate.

I'm sorry that you're having to deal with this problem. Being a 'round head', apparently it was more fashionable to maim male babies in the 1950's. 🙂, I am unable to help.

All I can do is wish you the best of luck, buddy. 👍

Sorry to hear about this. About 15-18 months after surgery and salvage RT I suffered bladderf incontinence.and needed to wear pads. Where I went wrong was I did not change them quickly enough, not realising the effect it would have on my foreskin. Was not long before foreskin got very tight, extremely difficult to pull back and even more difficult to return. In addition, like you, I suffered split skin and pain. It was hell.

However, I chose NOT to agree to circumcision despite being urged by both my GP and urologist, Was in mid-60s at the time and had read that the cut might be bit risky for older people. So opted to treat with Trimovate instead, an ointment you apply to the foreskin three times a day for up to a fortnight.

Almost immediately things got a lot easier, but was advised to stop applying to cream after a fortnight. This meant the problem soon returned by which time it was ok to resume the treatment. Again, things got better quickly until once again after a week or two things got difficult again and I needed to resume applying the medication.

,

This pattern went on for quite a while but over time, as the gap between treatment and recurrence grew wider, I was able to reduce the dosage from three times a day for a fortnight to twice a day for three days.

That was 15 years ago and I#m pleased to report I still have my foreskinn, which is no longer a problem most of the time. Nowadays, the moment there's even a hint of soreness (about once a month) all I need to do is apply this miracle ointment just once or maybe twice and everyrthing is immediately back to normal again.

It's a regime I'm very happy to live with and I'm so glad I resisted the urologist's advice!

Thanks Adrian, must admit I was a little surprised about the doctors reaction. Apparently, it can become an emergency surgery issue quicker than you can blink an eye. Anyway, at least they are taking it seriously. More news when I get it.

Update after seeing the urologist, he is sending a proposal to my insurance company for a circumcision and a few other minor details. Apparently, for anyone following, this will NOT ever heal on its own. If you have any issues with leakage, then it is worse since that also prevents it from healing. There are no magic creams, steroidal or otherwise that will in the long term fix the issue when it has already gone too far. So, thats what I have going on now, and he will wait for my PSA test results to check on any issues there.
