Expectations of a dry orgasm

I’m 5 weeks post prostatectomy and been advised by nurse to masturbate even if flaccid. I’m due consultation with surgeon in few weeks to discuss my PSA results and was told I’d be given a penis pump for penile rehabilitation.

So in the meantime it’s manual stimulation. I had some semblance of a soft semi so I figured that’s good progress although it only happened once.

However, I’m not sure what to expect with a dry orgasm. About three times when I have attempted masturbation I have felt a pleasurable build up of pressure and a wave of sensation in my legs, as if it felt like how you’d wet orgasm before the release and then nothing. To be honest my fingers slipped as this build up was happening and then I couldn’t get myself back to that point. Is that  dry orgasm and I should lower my expectations or had I kept a grip on my self and carried on would I have felt as if something releasing from tip of penis (with obviously nothing physically ejaculating).

I never thought I’d have to write such a post in all my life and I hope what I’ve written makes sense.

I don't think you got to orgasm. It feels basically the same as it used to, although most people do notice a bit of a difference, sometimes better, sometimes not as good.

Yes for me it feels, almost identical to before, seems to last a bit longer which is goid. No sensation of squirting but that isn't really the main feeling in an orgasm.

I've had a Prostatectomy and I find orgasms are nothing to write home about.

I usually know I've had one but it's nothing like before, feels like a soft wave.. at best I'd describe it as okay.

As for leaking urine, I try to empty my bladder beforehand, I find this makes a difference.

Some on here say orgasms are better, but not in my case. I still enjoy sex though so don't be put off.

Good luck.

Kev.

For about 18 months after my op, I peed everytime I orgasmed, I think it's called climacturia. Thankfully, that no longer happens. My dry orgasms are as pleasurable as as those pre-op.

However, as I have to use injections to get an erection, penetrative sex has become less spontaneous, less fun, and less frequent.

10 years after prostatectomy orgasms are great and just as good as before. The years in between they have been up, down and sometimes impossible to achieve. I found through experience the quality is related to how much I obsessed about achieving one, if I don't worry about it and concentrate on the job in hand (or wherever it might be 😂😂) orgasms are great.

I have consultation with surgeon in two weeks to see if my PSA bloods are at zero. Was told that the penis pump would be offered at that stage so hopefully once that arrives that will help

I had radiotherapy 7 years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed solo sex ever since.  Quite honestly it's every bit as good as partnered sex with the added bonus that there is no tidying up to do afterwards. The trick is don't think too much about it.  You probably did it before the op so why not continue?  It might take a bit of time to adjust but just go for it - -you have nothing to lose and all the fun of trying.........

good luck!

If you are not using a vibrator try one, it will help. Also remember orgasms happen at the penis as well in your brain/mind!

Is pre cum a sign of recovery? It’s definitely not urine leakage. I know pre cum is still possible due to it being from a different gland but was wondering if that it being produced was a sign that things are going as back to normal as can be. Only taking 20 mg tadalafil Monday and Friday as prescribed.

From my experience pre-cum (pre-ejaculate), a clear liquid, is not the sign of improvement in ED. It is produced by the glands called Cowper's glands, near the, prostate/urethra. I have suffered from ED since my prostatectomy, 14 years ago, and whenever I am sexually excited I produce the fluid but no erection. I use a VED for creating erections and pre-cum is useful as it provides the lubrication for penetrative sex. The production of pre-cum depends on whether your Cowper's glands were removed during prostatectomy or not, mine were obviously not removed. There is a mystery surrounding these glands because consultants never seem to mention them!
