Emergency lifting cushion

Hi

my dad has about 5 months left.

he’s still able to move around the house (just) with the aid of his walker, the trouble is his legs keep giving way, my work has agreed I can come home to get him up when this happens as ringing 111 could easily take +4hrs, but I’m worried about hurting him when picking him up.

I’ve seen these emergency lifting cushions that look perfect for our situation but they cost 1,500-£2,000!

I’ve tried to find somewhere that might hire these instead but not luck.

does anyone know of a place that hires these please.

thank you

    Jonny

Jonny, I think you need some help from his GP , social services, adult care or perhaps Macmillan . We all know how difficult it is to get GP appointments, perhaps call the nurses on this site to set you off in the right direction, number at the top of the page

My father in law was critised for how he was helping his wife because "it wasn't in her best interests".

Hi Jonny.

I'm sorry to hear the your dad is struggling. My dad had prostate cancer and towards the end of his life struggled with mobility issues and caring for himself. I contacted the adult social care dept of our local council who assessed his needs and helped enormously. His disease had spread to his bones. We we were told as he was in such a fragile condition, and as we were untrained, that it was dangerous to lift him.

Big hugs to you and your dad.
