Could it be a UTI

My husband was diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer in October last year following a TURPS procedure. After an MRI scan which appeared to show no lesions and a PSA of 0.74 He chose to watch and wait - 19 weeks on from diagnosis, he has just had his first PSA test and this is now 3.8 which seems to be a big jump in a short space of time. Consultant wants to test to see if he has a UTI which is doubtful and go from there, should we be concerned at such a rise in a short space of time?

Hi Debbie.

Welcome to the forum.

I'm not medically trained but I would not be over concerned with the rise in PSA. It could be caused by the TURPS procedure or other non cancerous prostate conditions or a UTI.

Good luck to you both. 👍

Thank you.

I'm sure it’s nothing to worry about but the PSA of 0.74 was 12 weeks after TURPS in November and the Consultant said at the time the low PSA was due to the TURPS procedure,  3.8 was recorded in March as the first of the AS procedure and we’ve been told that this now means he comes off AS
