I recently had a blood test for prostate cancer. my psa came back as 36?. I am 70, have no symptoms and am about to have mri. I have been told my psa is exceptionally high and was wondering if this may have been an erroneous test as most people seem to be in the 4.6 bracket. been examined by my doctor but he didn't give me any indication as to what was going on! urologist said mri and biopsy but not even had urinalysis ! anyone have any insights?

M , We have seen PSA results on here of 13000. Your result of 36 is high but it could be caused by something other than Prostate cancer. The MRI should give your team more information and what steps to take. As regards symptoms, many of us had no symptoms.

Thanks Chris

Hello mate.

At your age any PSA test above 6.5 is deemed abnormal and requires further investigation. It's sensible to have an MRI. The MRI will give a better indication to your condition.

Best of luck. 👍
