Libido vs Testosterone

It’s 10 months since Independence Day for me when my last Prostap injection left my body. 3 months ago my testosterone level was 0.58 ng/ml. My testosterone level now is 1.88 which is still pretty low, but the interesting thing is that my libido has gone from mild interest 3 months ago, to what I would describe as almost normal for me. Unfortunately I don’t know what my testosterone was before I started on the poison, but I reckon I had quite a high sex drive, which I’m pleased to say seems to be returning very well😊

I always though testosterone levels were related to libido, but just wondering how others have felt 10 months after their own Independence Day?

Glad things are improving mate. I have to say even after 4 yrs on HT my libido is still better than a lot of folks , even though I’ve obviously noticed a wane. Don’t overthink it nor quantify it. Ignore the figures and enjoy the mojo. We ain’t getting any younger 😀

Hi Derek.

when I first went on Prostap i found my libido didn’t diminish at all so i was worried it wasn’t working properly. I spoke to my specialist nurse who said they oversimplify it a bit and just say you’ll get a lack of desire due to the low testosterone.

This is not completely true as she explained to me that everyone is different and some people are driven more by memories, touch etc. It seems i am one of those, so don’t need the testosterone so much.

Very pleased for you that your libido is returning 👍 as long as your missus is as pleased as you are 🤗

Good luck

Phil

My experience was pretty similar to yours Derek. Even before my testosterone was first measured as on the rise my libido had improved significantly. My testosterone at 12 months 18nmol/L and by Feb. '25 it jumped right up to 27 nmol/L. I didn't notice any libido difference between the 18 measurement and the 27 figure. At the same time even though my testosterone levels are surprisingly high, I haven't reverted to teenage level testosterone madness. Other factors must be involved. Maybe the tie between libido and testosterone isn't a direct relationship?

Andy wondered in another thread, if there is some sort of testosterone bounce in the post HT period. I'll  able to contribute another test result in a few months., plus I'll dig around in my records for a pre cancer testosterone result.

I'm not entirely excited by the return of testosterone in that my psa, which was resolutely stuck on <0.01 for my entire treatment period and for about 8 months after that, has now jumped to .6. As has been pointed out here before, if you still have a prostate you can have a return of psa in the wake of treatment. For now, I choose not to worry about it and I wonder if it could be exacerbated by my very high testosterone level, but, time will tell.

That’s interesting Phil because I never lost the sensitivity to touch even though I had zero libido. So, we could still have fun. The strange thing was that although I was stimulated by touch I never felt I could reach orgasm until one time it happened accidentally. It seemed to come(sorry😊) on suddenly. Penetrative sex just didn’t interest me and TBH with Peyronie’s it wasn’t really practical. The big breakthrough was when I found the Male Supetight clear stroker from Lovehoney…it was a real game changer for me😊
