Tactics for coping with dribble incontinence

hi everyone, I haven’t had treatment yet but the size of my prostate restricts my urethra which leads to all the usual LUTS symptoms.
I’m finding the frequent trips to the loo and subsequent triple incontinence is irritating the end of my penis and often results in UTI type feelings and I think fungal or bacterial infections like balanitis. At least I think that’s what it is basically my foreskin becomes red, tighter, and there are one or twosmall Pin prick (Not a good time) Spots under underneath.

I guess the moisture is just a breeding ground for bacteria. What I was wondering is does anybody have any tips for preventing this. I stopped using soap and use an emollient, although I’m wondering if even that is too much for the end. I now retract the foreskin when going into the toilet and currently pouring water and drying it each time. This is a pain in the arse to do every time. Just wondering would a barrier such as Vaseline or sudo creme work better?

Hi Buttonphobi

I have had a similar problem since my prostatectomy many years ago. When I get itching symptoms, mostly on the foreskin, I dry it and apply hydrocortisone  ointment which cures it. Also I apply, when I remember, after having a pee, nappy rash ointment, 'Sudosalve' or similar available from any chemist, which is used on babies bottoms which tend to be wet when in nappies; that was my wife's idea!

Hope it helps, worth trying anyway.

I guess it's late in the day and not so easily done in the UK now but circumcision can be a good answer, though of course best done as a child as in my case. Always glad this was done and for reasons other than religion.

Yes think you’re lucky there Barry. I suppose they might consider it if it becomes a real problem 🤷🏽

Buttonphobic, I would get some medical advice on what to use, There are some conflicting views on the use of certain creams and lubricants, on the penis, in particular vaseline.

Thanks Chris

Hi

Just to add to what I wrote earlier. Often what I do is, particularly at night, I pull my foreskin back apply, cortisone or baby-nappy-cream  and put my pants on with a pad (which I always use anyway) so that the foreskin remains dry even if I go for a pee at night, any drips are absorbed by the pad. I have also used this technique during long car journeys when the the penis is less free. Obviously the baby-nappy-cream is perfectly safe to use; I have been  using it for many years.

Thanks Pratap

unfortunately, when my symptoms are at their worst, the end of my penis (Not a foreskin) Becomes quite sensitive, even to non-perfume soap or emollient. So When I put pseudo creme and hydrocortisone cream on the foreskin, it rubs off onto the tip and feels uncomfortable.

I may have to bite the bullet and consult My GP
