Diagnosed a month ago

Hi All,

Nice to meet you all,  Apologies its not in better circumstances.

I was diagnosed on the 25th May. PSA was 4.75, Gleeson was 3+3 (grade group 1) all cancer is located in the prostate, so the diagnosis is good - if there is such a thing, people I speak to say I am lucky as it has been found this early etc, Personally I don't think anyone that has been diagnosed with cancer is lucky....

I have decided to do active surveillance for now - PSA tests every 3 months etc. Bit of background i am 50 in a few months.

The main thing I am worrying about is (there are other things I am worrying about!) is I am still in a little pain / discomfort from my biopsy this was done on the 12/5. Now sorry to be graphic but the discomfort is in the back of my arse... has anyone else experienced this? or any discomfort nearly a month after the biopsy.

Cheers.

Hi Steve.

I'm sorry that you've got prostate problems and sad that you've had to find us. But welcome to the forum, mate.

The pain that you're feeling is not uncommon.

I agree entirely with your treatment choice.

I hope everything works out well.

Hi Steve

For G3+3 As is a decent choice, just be on top of the various tests and the timescales required and don't assume the system will sort it for you.

Pain around the anus and rectum is common, if its not getting better soon its worth a call to the hospital or GP even if all they do is tell you not to worry, I'm pretty sure mine took a month to fade away.

Good luck with your journey.

I had the same problem and it prevented me from getting back to bike riding.

Had the operation subsequently and it still feels sore after 8 weeks so no saddle based exercise for me.

Not overly concerned though. I think it will sort itself in its own good time.
