VED Demonstration

User

Hi,

I'm due to collect my VED next Thursday, the letter also said there is a demonstration! I have a couple of scenarios as to what I thought this could be:

1.  It'll be like sex education at school where a banana was substituted to demonstrate condoms

2. I have to use it on myself to prove I know when to stop so mini John doesn't explode. Even more fun if there's a student there too

I'm hoping its the former.

It reminds me of the DRE I had right at the being of all this, the nurse asked if I wanted a male nurse present too! I declined as I felt it was already pretty awkward for the both of us without adding a spectator into the mix. Little did I know what was in store for me probing wise with many people present 🤣

Anyway if anyone could share their experience of the demonstration I'd be very grateful, I like going into these things knowing what to expect!

thanks John

Hi John,

I didn't get the demo, it just got delivered with a set of instructions. They're incredibly easy to use though, so if you don't fancy someone showing you what to do, you could politely decline and go solo without any worries.

Hi John,

In my case it was done on me not a banana or anything else. It was with a rep from the company who was very professional. I found it only slightly embarrassing but my wife was allowed in which helped, apart from a critique of my pubes.

It covered rehab exercises and also using the constriction rings.

It's probably worth having a trim downstairs before you go so the device forms a better seal.

All in all, I found it a positive experience.

Good luck,

Kev.

Hi Kev,

Thanks, much appreciated and nice to know you found it a positive experience. I much prefer knowing what I'm potentially going in to. My tolerance for what I find embarrassing has definitely increase over the last year or so, but still a bit nervous about it!

I'll see if my wife wants to come along too and hopefully allowed in.

thanks John

Same experience as Kev T.

I was asked if a student could sit in and I said yes.

The rep demonstrated using the pump for penile rehab, and then also demonstrated the constriction rings. I rather suspect that if the construction rings had not been demoed on me, I would never have plucked up the courage to try them myself. There are loads of other types of rings in the kit, which I have never tried, only the ones that were demoed on me.

There was some research which found that men who have the pump demoed on them are twice as likely to use it successfully afterwards. Hence, some NHS trusts only pay for pumps if the patient attends a pump clinic.

On the subject of pubes, mine fell out about 2 weeks after the radiotherapy. They all started growing again after another 6 weeks, and when the pump clinic appointment came along, the pubes were all a dead straight 1cm long, looking like they'd been very carefully manicured! The bloke even commented on it!

Thanks Andy,

Sounds like a good plan re the demo, best to know how to use it properly!

I'd not really considered pube fashion, possibly I could style them into some sort of small mochican.

I've never used a pump but I believe that they work better if there's a shaved area around the penis. Apparently it improves the suction seal. However, I think I'd be more embarrassed having Friar Tuck pubes than I would than doing a demo. 😆

I never bothered trimming for using the pump - the gel works for this.
