Swimming after biopsy

How long after transperineal biopsy can you go swimming 🏊‍♂️

If it's in shark infested water, I'd wait until the bleeding has stopped. 🏊‍♂️🦈

Sorry, Mrs W I was only joking. I dont think it would matter much, so long as he took it easy. However, I'd not be diving off the top board, for a while.

Late edit:

I've had a quick Google check and the general consensus, is leave it for a few days, so as not to impede healing and limit the risk of infection. Hope that helps.

I don't know if there is a set time. I would have thought it might depend on how many cores were taken and how long it takes to heal. Can't recall seeing this question posed previously. You could ask one of the specialist nurses if you don't get firmative answer from the forum. It occurs to me that if scabs are washed off prematurely there might be an opportunity for infection depending on what's in the water.

Thanks,  he has biopsy scheduled for 17th and we are thinking of a uk break on the 19th , hoping he will have recovered from the biopsy . It's a transperineal one . We were going abroad but have cancelled that . What are the general recovery times ? . Sometimes get the odd basking shark in uk waters 😀

According to Melbourne Urology. 48 hours for swimming, but Aussies are tougher than us plus they're surrounded by Great Whites.

It seems like every procedure or treatment for PCa,  recovery times can vary. I'd have gone swimming next day, if I'd fancied a dip.

I hope you have a great holiday. 👍

The procedure left me in some discomfort so taking it easy felt the right thing to do. That remained the case right the way up to my RARP so even a few days of abeyance sounds optimistic to me.

Were you able to go to work the day after TP Biopsy?

I'm retired so that situation didn't arise but I don't think I'd have had a problem.
