Hi Thomas,

Thank you for your story and welcome to forum.

You dont mention your Gleason score and cancer staging, but I assume it was low grade, T2.

As you're probably aware, it would be very rare not to survive low grade, prostate confined cancer, following radical treatment.

The five year survival rate is about 95% and the ten year survival rate is over 75%. For those lucky enough to be in this bracket, dying from the disease is very unlikely, but having to deal with the radical treatments can cause problems.

Chris Hoyes cancer is a completely different cup of tea. The outcomes for those unfortunate enough to have stage 4 prostate cancer are poorer.

Your erectile dysfunction, may or may not have been linked to your PCa, but at least it alerted clinicians to your elevated PSA. Has your ED improved since your prostatectomy? I see that after a year that you still have slight incontinence issues following the operation. Is your PSA undetectable?

Your story and the hundreds of similar ones on here, give hope to others. Especially those who think being diagnosed with the disease is a death sentence. However, we must always bear in mind, for a small minority it can be.

I hope your recovery continues, mate.👍
