Locally advanced prostate cancer...

User

Hi to all...

I am new to the forum and have recently had the MRI scan and then my biopsy..I am going through the ordeal now of waiting and preparing.

My PSA was 9.4 and my MRI scan was a PiRADS 3 score.

My question is does that PiRADS score automatically mean that I have a locally advanced cancer.

Gratefully for any info...

Antonio..

To be classified as locally advanced a cancer is no longer contained within the prostate, so the spread could be into the prostate bed, the seminal vesicles or lymph nodes. You have no test results to indicate that is the case for you.

Waiting for results is very difficult and it's natural to be concerned. Stay focused when you're visiting your specialist, be careful to take in as much detail as possible and maybe take a friend to get perspective.

Thanks for that.

I think I went to a site with misleading information.

I saw a statement that basically read that PiRADS 3 scores would usually turn out to be locally advanced pc.

I need to be more watchful of where Google takes me...

Thanks Jules

Hi antonioo,

I'm sorry that you have prostate problems but welcome to the forum, mate.

Although your PSA is elevated it can be caused by non cancerous prostate problems. The pi-rads 3 means they are not sure if you've got clinically significant cancer or not.

Your biopsy results will clarify the situation. It will tell if you've got cancer and if so how aggressive it's likely to be.

Good luck, mate and please keep us updated with your results.👍

Your biopsy will be the definitive test. The MRI is kind of the "alert".
