Single Pelvic Bone Met, Outlook?

User

Some of you may have read my conversation Newbie, Bad MRI. Thanks to those that have already given support and encouragement.

Sadly things have taken a turn for the worse, I have been informed the bone scan shows a single pelvic bone met.

CNS said T3bN0M1 G8 4+4, but didn't mention advanced, and met will be treated same time as prostate. I realise it won't kill the pelvic met but does anyone know what my treatment and outlook might look like, as won't get to see onco MDT for 3 months by sounds of it.

Already started bicaltumide. Prostap scheduled in two weeks.

Very worried and devastated not so much for myself but for my only son and Mrs.

Everyone's cancer is different so it's hard to give a definitive answer, but a single bone met is much easier to treat than multiple mets:  it can be specifically targeted with radiotherapy, etc, and obviously it will be impacted by your first-line hormone therapy.

If you look at my profile you'll see my treatment journey:  I had multiple bone and soft-tissue mets at diagnosis in Jan 2019, which was over 6-and-a-half years ago.  I would think a single met is eminently treatable.

All the very best to you.

Hello Hawkz,

Sorry to here your news, like Craig said though I would think its treatable being a single met, with EBRT targeting this along with your prostate. Only guessing but they might suggest more sessions of EBRT and/or a longer period on the Prostrap.

I know what you mean about being worried/devastated. When this all started I was able to hold it together, but when I though about my wife and boys I fell apart.

Hopefully you'll get to see/hear from your Onco sooner than 3 months so you know what the suggested plan is for you

All the best

John

Hi again hawkz.

Thank you, despite your obvious disappointment, for posting your results. I'm so sorry to hear that they weren't what we wanted. I hope that whatever treatment they decide is successful and that you have many years left.

Bigs hugs to you and your family, mate.

I suggest that with a bone met you push for an earlier appointment because you could be started on HT as a preliminary holding treatment very quickly. However, it is possible that before HT shrinks the met, they might want you to have a PSMA scan to check whether there are any other undisclosed Mets. If they don't offer this scan, I would ask why not. There is no harm asking and being proactive.

Thanks Barry. I started on bicaltumide yesterday, same day I got news of the met. Had a call this afternoon to book first 3 months prostap 2nd July. Can't knock them for response time for scans, results tbf. Praying for a miracle. All the best old chap.
