Any experience of cycling leading to acute urinary retention

I recently came back from a strenuous week long cycle tour which involved spending 6-7 hours per day in the saddle with few breaks. I had had a few problems midway through the tour passing urine first thing in the morning but this appeared to clear up by the end of the week. However, the day after I returned I went into acute urinary retention (i.e. I couldn't pee) for about 8 hours.

I'm in my late 60s and was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate (BPH) about 15 years ago. I'm on a mild medication which has meant that up until now has meant my BPH has caused me few problems.

I spoke to a really helpful nurse on the Prostate Cancer help line who confirmed my understanding that there isn't any definitive evidence about the impacts of cycling on an enlarged prostate.

However I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had this happen to them after cycling? Also, has anyone come across a urologist or other medical practitioner who has specialist knowledge about the potential impacts of cycling on an enlarged prostate and ways of mitigating the risk.

Finally I already have a very good saddle with a cut out to reduce pressure on my perinium , but I was wondering if anyone tried the specialist 'prostate friendly' saddles that are available online?
