Bicalutamide 50mg 2 months prior to surgery

Hi All,

My first post here since being diagnosed with T2C in May.

After a lot of deliberation and conversations with the medical experts I've decided to go with surgery and will almost certainly being treated privately as my surgeon was proposing a non-nerve sparing operation whereas the new London Prof thinks he can do better with NeuroSAFE.  I've been prescribed 2 months of Bicalutamide prior to the operation and am keen to know what side effects people have experienced at this level. Obviously, I understand that everyone reacts differently to these treatments.

Thanks

Nick

I was on Bicalutamide for 3 months prior to Radiotherapy only issue I had was it lowered my blood pressure in the morning as I take blood pressure medication, I was advised to take the Bicalutamide at night and that helped regulate my blood pressure, only other advise I could give is to exercise regularly as it does make you feel tired, hope all goes well

Hi John,

Thanks very much for your reply - it's really good to hear from people who have actual experience of medication and treatment and it gives me some more hope that things may not be too bad,

Hope you're doing well.

Thanks

Nick.

Hi Nick.

Im sorry youve had to join our club, but welcome to the forum, mate. You'll get lots of help and support here.

I was on Bical for 2 months prior to RARP. I got sore and swollen nipples, that took about 3 months to return to normal after the medication stopped.

Good luck with your treatment. 👍

Hi Adrianus,

Thanks very much for the welcome.

Thanks for the info your symptoms sound as if they were uncomfortable but not dreadful (hopefully not worse than I'm imagining!). I'll bear that one in mind.

Hope you're doing ok now.

Nick.

Nick , I went on 150mg of Bicalutamide for six months, similar side effects, sore and swollen nipples, mine have probably reduced slightly. Perhaps a slight drop in labido. Hope all goes well for you.

Thanks Chris

Thanks Chris,

Thank's for your thoughts, thay are very helpful. There definitely seems to be a pattern here and one that I will now at least be expecting.  I'll be starting my course of Bicalutamide tomorrow so we'll see what happens.

Thanks

Nick.
